Let it snow!

It was really only a snow shower that lasted about 10 minutes and never stuck to the ground but it did make us excited for the coming season:)

Doll Quilt

Hannah and I started this project last summer. We did all the cutting last year and this year we finally put the pieces together. It's not perfect but it ended up really cute.

THE BLACK KNIGHTS

This soccer season was the best ever.

Why?

Was it because the Knights had an undefeated team?

That was great, but no.

Was it because there was only one game in which the other team scored?

That was amazing, they were not scored on until the next to last game, but no, that's not it either.

Was it because they were on a team with all of their friends?

YES!

Happy Birthday Mom!

My mom is the best. I respect her so much, she loves the Lord and is a great prayer warrior. I miss her so much now that we have moved away but I think that makes me enjoy our time together so much more. I love you, Mom! Thanks for everything you have done for my family and I over the years. Thank you for your example in having faith in Jesus.

Election Day 2008

The day started early, we needed to go to a neighboring precinct to hand out materials for our congressman. We needed to be there by 6 a.m. and we had about a 30 minute drive. We left a little after 5 a.m. so we would have plenty of time to get there.....

Isaac and Hannah were great, smiling faces at 5 a.m.

We arrived to our polling station almost an hour late. I had bad directions, it was dark, I'd never been to Suffolk and it was raining. Did I mention it was dark? To make a long story short, when I felt that I was going the wrong way I decided to make a U-turn and didn't see a ditch on the side of the road. I almost went in, thank God I stopped before we went in all the way but now my front tires were stuck. God provided by bringing us an E.M.T. who let us sit in her ambulance out of the rain until a police car and tow truck could get there.... So after about an hour wait and $75 later we arrived at the polls. (Sorry, no pics I didn't grab my purse when the E.M.T. had us get out of the car:(
The Eakes joined us later in the morning with hot chocolate and coffee. The boys were having a contest on how many fliers they could hand out before they were rejected. Isaac won with 6!



After working at the polls we went to breakfast at Cracker Barrel:)

At 7 p.m. we met as a co-op to watch the election results. We presented our reports on presidents, states, and history of the political parties . We also displayed our reports from earlier in the unit study. (Sorry, everyone, it didn't seem like a lot of work when I was planning in July:))
One assignment was to take our views and match them against the two candidates.





Once President Elect Obama had 200 electoral votes we knew once the polls closed on the west, he would be declared the winner. We took time out of our activities to pray for him and our country.

We miss you Grandma Rebecca

We had a nice visit with Grandma just relaxing, shopping, cooking, shopping,talking and shopping. Thank you for taking the time to come and visit us. WE MISS YOU!

ROI Feis 2008

Hannah participated in her second Feis on October 18th. She was only 1 of 2 competitors in her division and received a score of 84. Great job Hannah:)

Election 2008 part 2

During our Election study we went to Congressman Randy Forbes kick off campaign party.

We were greeted by a fife and drum corp.

For Co-op each of our families had to create a stump speech campaign.
